All parents are automatically members of the Parent Forum. In a bigger school, members of the Parent Forum select the members of the Parent Council. At Nethermill, we have chosen to invite anyone who is interested to come along to Parent Council meetings (there are about 5 meetings per year).
The Chairperson is chosen at the AGM and stands for a minimum of 1 year. Miss Farrell is also a member and gives updates on a range of school issues. Michael Dickie, one of our Local Councillors, attends as many meetings as possible.
The type of things the Parent Council can get involved with include:-
- Supporting the work of the school
- Gathering and representing parents' views to the Head Teacher, Education Authority and HMIE
- Promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils, pre-school provision and the local community.
- Organising events
- Being involved in the appointment of senior staff
Nethermill School has a strong fund raising group which is a sub-group of the Parent Council.
The current Office Bearers in the Parent Council are:-
Ms Laura Innes (Chairperson) Mrs Suzanne Kelly (Vice Chairman) Mrs Kaye Borthwick (Clerk) Mrs Susan Kennedy (Treasurer)
The agenda and minutes are sent out to all parents. If there are any issues you would like to raise at a meeting please speak to any member.
